[edit] Vince Peart

Sure, no problem. Here is the diff that shows how the article looked when I tagged it. There seems to be recurring phrases in pages created that are vanity, non-notable bio, or sometimes well constructed nonsense. Please do not read into this comment that your writing is lacking, there were just similarities. The article had not been fleshed-out (the revision that I tagged was the eighth) and subsequently was built to the point where it supported itself. I can't point you to articles that have been deleted, but you can view articles that are being voted on by Wikipedians here and pick a link to any individual person, such as Michael Westendorf or Paul Douglas (cameraman). These are just from June 2, 2006.

At any rate, this is getting long and I'm not sure if I am adequately answering your question. The phrases that struck me in the version tagged were, "self titled" (many, many db-bio pages have this or very similar phrasing); "rose to international attention" (sounded a little grandiose); "formation of the Alston Moor Regeneration Society" (many pages espouse the invention of, creation of, founding of… a non-existent thing or group). That's about it. Again, please let me stress that there was enough there that made me think it legitimate, but perhaps not encyclopedic. As you can see from the two links above, that appear to be leaning toward delete, they are not without substance or support.

One of the things that I try to do when working on a new article (or major revision), is to do the work in my personal sandbox. If you would like some information on creating this, check out Wikipedia:Subpages. This gives you a chance to flesh-out your article without someone like me sticking my nose into your writing. Now for the mea culpa. Thank you for pointing out some of my shortcomings. I should have Googled the name before adding the tag. There were only 317 hits and not all were applicable, but many were (including mention in the BBC). If I would have followed the link to Alston, Cumbria, I would have seen the ample documentation pertaining to the article in question. Keep up the good work, and don't take my or any other tags personally. If you don't mind, I would like to take another look at the current revision and offer some suggestions (both the Vince Peart and Alston, Cumbria articles) but I'm frankly too tired at the moment. But I do see that you've done a great deal of work on these pages.

[edit] Deletion

No, I didn't delete it. Here is the details of the deletion, though I couldn't find any debate on the subject. While we did have some discussion on it as we left it - I wasn't going do anything other than offer some suggestion which I never got around to doing. --Geneb1955Talk/CVU 02:58, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
