[edit] Working With Other Artists
After graduating from high school, Hayko received his education in vocals at the Mimar Sinan University for two years. After that, he went on further to take courses in singing which dealt with solfège and harmony at the Timur Selçuk Modern Music Center. Next, Hayko would go on to the İstanbul Academy for a year so that he can consider his first step towards a professional music career as a keyboardist. With all the tremendous amount of knowledge Hayko carried with music, he would then go on to work and perform next to several famous Turkish artists suc as Ogün Sanlısoy, Aylin Aslım, Koray Candemir and Demir Demirkan (the famous composer of Sertab Erener's Eurovision 2003 winning entry of "Every Way That I Can") respectively. Picking up knowledge as being composer along the way, Hayko contributed to the works of the artists listed above in contributing to the albums they would go on to sell. He's be known to have composed Murathan Mungan's “Söz vermiş Şarkılar” which Aylin Aslım would sing with him (Murathan) as a duet.
[edit] Forming His Own Band
In 2005, Hayko would go on to from the band which he's named after his own name, Hayko Cepkin. The band members consist of Umut Töre (guitarist), Onur Şengül (bass) and Murat Cem Ergül (drummer). This leaves Hayko himself to be the lead singer of the band. Later Onur has left the band because of his busy schedule and replaced by Poyraz Kılıç (bass).
[edit] Sakin Olmam Lazım
Many of the songs that would go on to appear in his first album are songs Hayko composed and written throughout his life. The first album was titled, “Sakin Olmam Lazım” and it contained hints of classic Turkish blends and raw angst present in his rock tracks. Some of the singles released from this album include, "Yarası Saklı", "Görmüyorsun", "Fırtınam", "Son Kez" and the infamous "Zaman Geçti". The album received lots of airplay, support and applause for the unique style as well as the lyrics.
[edit] Tanışma Bitti
On June 29th of 2007, Hayko would go on to release his second album titled, "Tanışma Bitti". The first single of this album is the song we've selected for this edition called, "Yalnız Kalsın". Already, the single has managed to quickly rise on most Turkish musical chart for the slightly different form of Hard Rock that he tackles with in this album. With all this success at hand, it comes as to no surprise that Hayko has been asked to perform at the famous annual Turkish rock music festival called, "Rock'n Coke Festival". That, along with managing to sell out at concerts throughout Turkey proves that his success in the Turkish Rock music industry is well established and is further growing with each album.
