From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Haworth Press is a publisher of specialized professional magazines and peer-reviewed academic journals.

It was founded in 1978 by the publishing industry executives Bill Cohen and Patrick Mclaughlin. The name is taken from the township of Haworth in England, the home of the Brontë sisters. Bill Cohen is now the sole proprietor.

Their first publication was Library Security Newsletter; their early publications were all in the fields of Library and information science and in Social work. As of 2007, they publish over 200 periodicals and a number of professional books. The company is divided into the following business units,

  • Food Products Press
  • Harrington Park Press (with sub-imprints Alice Street Editions [lesbian fiction and literature] and Southern Tier Editions [gay male fiction and literature])
  • International Business Press
  • The Haworth Hospitality Press
  • The Haworth Information Press
  • The Haworth Medical Press
  • The Haworth Pastoral Press
  • The Haworth Social Work Practice Press

Many of their publications cover very specialized material. Often, individual issues or groups of issues are republished as books.
