[edit] Yellow journalism
Hello -- can you explain your neutrality concerns in the Spanish-American War section? Thanks.--Idols of Mud 21:33, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, I'm not sure if I should reply here or on your talk page, but I put down the npov template because I had thought the text "Pulitzer and Hearst are wrongly credited (or blamed) for drawing the nation into the Spanish-American War with sensationalist stories or outright lying. The vast majority of Americans did not live in New York City, and the decision makers who did live there probably relied more on staid newspapers like the Times, The Sun or the Post. The most famous example of the exaggeration is the apocryphal story that artist Frederic Remington telegrammed Hearst to tell him all was quiet in Cuba and "There will be no war." Hearst responded "Please remain. You furnish the pictures and I'll furnish the war." The story (a version of which appears in the Hearst-inspired Orson Welles film Citizen Kane) first appeared in the memoirs of reporter James Creelman in 1901, and there is no other source for it." seemed opinionated towards the journalists' innocence. Rereading the text and references a couple more times, I suppose I can see where this would come from; I just jumped a little soon upon reading the first sentence. >_>. It's probably because of all the 8th grade history textbook material and a couple other pages that made me suspicious of the text... My apologies. Havocrazy 20:18, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
- De nada. I'll look at the text again and see if it can be tweaked a little bit.--Idols of Mud 21:59, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
- K, great. Thanks for resolving the issue quickly :D --Havocrazy 03:30, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Minor Edits
It seems like many of your edits (including this one suggesting a section was NPOV) are marked as minor. Please review the Minor Edit pages for guidelines on marking an edit as minor. Kristan 07:24, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, I was unaware that there was a policy concerning minor edits. Thank you for informing me! -- Havocrazy 02:16, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Troy High School NJROTC
In reply to your question about NJROTC, I think a section within the Troy High School (California) article should be created first. Since the potential of the amount of content on that subject is somewhat limited, the creation of a separate article might only result in a stub that isn't readily expandable. Secondly, topics related to Troy High School should probably stay within that article, in the interest of keeping info organized and accessible in just one place.
You may want to work on a section first and see what happens. ;) +A.Ou Ȣȣ 07:38, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not so sure on WP:N...I really don't know much about the NJROTC program at Troy. It depends on if Troy's program is well-known nationally and whether it has made it onto any news media other than the local newspaper. +A.Ou Ȣȣ 07:42, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

- Well, I don't know about being well-known nationally... though we are aiming to get to national competitions this year. Unit Troy does have a long history of achievements, particularly being a Distinguished Unit in Area 11 and winning a national academic postal. Heh. Thanks for your feedback, I think I will start working on a section soon. When I finish my homework someday xD. Lol, I wonder if I know you from Troy. -- Havocrazy 08:40, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

- Yay, a fellow freshman :D. Yup, I go to Troy High School. Except I live in the NJROTC room because I have nowhere to live outside of it, soo... I'd bet that I don't know you. If you want, you can leave your name. I'm Aaron Tran :D. --Havocrazy 03:12, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

- Hah, I do!!!!! Hm, I don't remember though if you were in first semester or not; if so, I may know/somewhat remember you. I'll find you at school tomorrow :D. Haha. By the way, don't take any offense at me not knowing you... uh, I don't remember the faces of all the probably 100+ students in my classes. --Havocrazy 03:43, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Stubs
Thank you for marking Anurag Kashyap (Director) as a stub. If possible it is better to use a specific stub rather than {{stub}}. To make this easier there is a list at WP:WSS/ST. Thank you. Ksbrowntalk 08:40, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- Ah, thanks for the link! Duly appreciated :D, as this will make stubbing an easier job. Thank you --Havocrazy 03:02, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Re: User page template?
I replied to your message on my talk page. +A.Ou 06:46, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
- For example, you can use a table with a javascript toggle feature to organize userboxes, subpages, etc. +A.Ou 07:13, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism to Troy High School (California)
Thanks for reverting vandalism to the THS article (you beat me to it!)...actually, I was expecting that - the recent vandalism comes from a certain editor also from Troy, so we better keep a close watch. +A.0u 02:11, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
- Hehe, you too :). You've been far more active at editing than I have, so you've caught plenty of vandalism as well; good job! And aye aye, sir on the close watch. Perhaps we'll begin racing to be the first to revert ;]. --Havocrazy 03:09, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

- Yes, well, I did a presentation about Wikipedia for English class, and now they probably think I'm somewhat crazy to actually edit constructively. We're going at a slow pace in FOP, so I just sneak in a few edits then. :) +A.0u 04:24, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

- That second edit was...odd...recent changes showed an increase of 50,000+ bytes (and the edit summary read "added link for more info"). By the way, you may find Wikipedia:WikiProject Classroom coordination interesting; I wish our English teachers would assign Wikipedia as a writing project. :) +A.0u 04:41, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

- Haha o_o that must have been surprising. And that looks neat... I might join in some during the summer or something. I wholeheartedly concur with your latter statement; I wish they'd at least let us cite it :P. --Havocrazy 06:15, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
