In one version of current gastropod taxonomy, Haustrinae is a taxonomic subfamily of predatory sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Muricidae, the murex shells or rock shells.

According to another different version of the taxonomy, the genera in this family are grouped in a larger subfamily, the Ocenebrinae.

(Note: Gastropod taxonomy has been in flux for many years. This is especially true currently, because of new research in molecular phylogeny. Because of all of this on-going change, different reliable sources can yield very different classifications, especially within certain poorly understood groups. The Muricidae or murex snails is a very large family and a difficult family to make sense of taxonomically.)
