[edit] Plot

On October 17, 1879 in Louisiana Zeke Holloway reads an article in the newspaper. It says the mansion needed an assistant Caretaker. He soon realizes the mansion is haunted, and it was a "false alarm" to get help rid the mansion of Atticus Thorn and his minions of evil spirits. Zeke earns a magical lantern by Madame Leota known as the Beacon of Souls, and starts his quest to free 999 souls, or he will be the 1000th!

[edit] Rooms

  • Great Hall - The first room found in the mansion. The light switch is on the far side of the room.
  • Foyer - The first hub room. The light switch is up the stairs, but they collapse before Zeke is able to climb them. The only route is through the paintings.
  • Conservatory - Contains the first Tome of Shadows. Zeke must activate a ghostly piano, cello and violin to make platforms of books, which lead to the light switch balcony. The giant spider that is met in the Game Room can be seen climbing the conservatory window.
  • Game Room - A room with poker and snooker tables. The first giant spider is fought and Zeke must win a game of 9-Ball in order to get the light switch.
  • Downstairs Hallway
  • Kitchen - A Banshee is fought here. Zeke must direct the possessed plates into smashing several bottles of petrol, which leads to the fireplace and gives light to the room.
  • Maid Room - Contains the second Tome of Shadows. The walls move and Zeke must find his way through this maze.
  • Dining Room - After turning on the light switch, Zeke must chase after all of the floating candles. Once he has all of them, the candles should be brought back to the chandelier.
  • Ballroom - The organ pipes blow Zeke back, and the snaring abilities of the giant spiders must be taken advantage of. Thorn is fought here.
  • Winter Garden - Fountains are blocking the torches. Zeke must divert the water flow, whilst avoiding the collapsing paths. After the lights are turned on, the wraith seen in the beginning flies past the garden (the player is alerted by his teleporting sound).
  • Graveyard - Zeke must wake up the heads that sing.
  • Mausoleum - Zeke must stay alive in a pit for 3 minutes.
  • Pantry - Zeke crosses between two parallel universes to light the room. Thorn is fought here.

  • Study - The third Tome of Shadows is here. Zeke can rearrange furniture by stepping on rugs.
  • Sun Room - The moonlight from the window must be directed to a crystal via mirrors. Thorn is fought here.
  • Sitting Room - The light switch is not connected, and must be chased back to its place.
  • Museum - Zeke must get across a giant chessboard without being put in check.
  • Children's Room - Zeke goes inside a cupboard and is chased by the wraith. He is fought afterwards.
  • Parlour - The walls must be rearranged to reach the light switch. Thorn is fought here.

  • In the Ballroom level, you can adjust your camera in a way that you can see a balcony that every 10 seconds, you can see 2 men (possibly game developers) riding a doombuggy and watching down on you.
  • The wraith-like monster that chases Zeke in the Children's Room (and is continuously fought afterwards), is possibly a reference to the Grim Reaper.
  • In the Mausoleum, look closly near the coffins and you'll find the names of the producers.
