[edit] Japanese name order

Why do you turn Japanese names around backwards?

I'm a Japanese, but I feel so strange that Japanese people are written in Japanese-style name in spite of English wikipedia. For example, writing down Utada Hikaru (Family name + First name) instead of Hikaru Utada is strange, I think. I'd extremely like to change all Japanese people's article to Western-style name. Even in English I write Japanese names surname-first, given name-last. I would chuckle if the Japanese Wikipedia had an article named ピット・ブラッド! Anyhow, Wikipedia does not have a policy for modern Japanese name order (however, the Manual of Style specifies that for historical people we write the surname first, for example Tokugawa Ieyasu, not Ieyasu Tokugawa). So you can write modern names the way you like. (I'd be very happy if you'd let me write them the way I like, too.) Fg2 04:57, 16 December 2005 (UTC)

If you list the articles that you have created, I can go through and copy-edit (proofread) them for English errors, and it would help to bring up the quality of owarai articles across Wiki. Hi. About your edits on Jichokacho: I understand that you just want to add interesting information about each person, but sometimes I think it is just too much. Since this is the English Wikipedia, you must remember that 99.99% of the readers don't know anything about the subject. It's ok to say "Mr. Tanaka-san is married and has 3 children", but if you say something like "Mr. Tanaka was once given flowers by Ms. Satou and many people say that he is the best member of a famous group called Hidekazu which is popular in Fukui Prefecture", it is too hard to understand for most readers, and it's not interesting!
Right now, most of the geinin pages should be kept pretty small, and only the most important details included. Nobody will read an article if it is too long, especially if they don't understand anything!
The Japanese Wikipedia is still very different than the English Wikipedia. Japanese people seem to like to have many facts, but the story is not so important. In the English people, articles that have too many facts are not very good articles, so I would like to improve the quality of these articles. The {{Project Warai}} tag shouldn't really be used until after the article has been copyedited and organized. If you add the tag to every owarai article, many of which are still low quality, then it will make the WikiProject look like it is inactive. If you could just list the articles you create to the Improve section under tasks, I will copyedit them as soon as I can and move them to the Expandable stubs or Recently completed section. Or, if you like, you could just put the new articles into my sandbox, and I would edit them even faster, and then move it into the article namespace as soon as I finish copyediting.
I will create a small style guide/rules on the project page soon, and don't forget to watch the talk pages as well (especially the tasks talk page).  freshgavinΓΛĿЌ  02:15, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

Hello, thanks for your comment on my user talk page. I've put Masashi Tashiro under Pågående/planlagte oversettelser, which translates to "Ongoing/planned translations" in English, and also added a comment that states the translation was requested by you. I haven't had much time for translation lately, but will hopefully begin working on it sometime soon. But I'll wait until the cleanup tag has been removed from the English article, so that I can translate from a clean source.

I'm also considering translating the BOØWY article, because I've taken some interest in them, and want to spread knowledge about Japanese bands. The popularity of Japanese music in Norway is increasing together with the increased publication of manga and anime DVD releases. Hi The first paragraph of this article says that Erika Sawajiri "belongs to xyz Promotions". AFAIK they don't have slavery in Japan do they? It may be a translation thing I guess but that should be worded differently in English. I would be more inclined to say "is represented by" or "works for" but I am not sure of the true arrangement. I translated the Kazuhide Uekusa article to Spanish, but be warned, as it might be deleted by other users (there is a contextualization tag, in other words, they don't know how this guy's biography is relevant!). Anyway, I wanted your help for something. There is an article about Kumazawa Banzan, which is a stub. Hello, Hatto-san!! Thank you so much for your nice message. I am not actually a fan of ZARD. I knew about them from surfing the web (I am sure I listend to Kitto Wasureranide somewhere, but I can't remember where!) and have been greatly shocked to her she passed away recently. I did many readings on the web and watched many interviews and comments on youtube so I will try my best to try improving the pages when I have time. Are you going to the concert in September? I find it unfortunate that Izumi-san had to die, but there are so many horrible comments about her on 2-ch and especially that article on Shukan Shincho. I have never read that article, but I was wondering if you knew the article because it should be added as part of the section. Anyway, I am also from Japan, but have lived most of my life in the U.S. I spent last summer in Tokyo working so I was definitely there watching the news about Izumi-san. With regards to "Glorious Mind", has there been announcement that this will be a #43 single for Zard? I would wait on it. But I did make a few more updates so hope you take a look and make changes when you feel like it. Konbanwa Hatto-san! Yeah, I would try working on the Zard page too if I have time. I have some struggle trying to separate Izumi Sakai article from Zard because after 1993, they were basically the same people. I mean, you can say Zard continued to exist as a name from 1993, but it was simply Sakai-san herself. Or you can say that Sakai Izumi became Zard after 1993. I supppose you can say Zard is the public life of Izumi Sakai and Izumi sakai (or Sachko Kamachi) is the private side of this woman, but then the second article we would have very little to say.

By the way, I was wondering, who do you think would succeed Izumi Sakai as a singer to sing those 300 songs she wrote? I don't think it should be a famous artist because they already have their own characteristics as a singer. And some people say Mai Kuraki should be one, but I think her singing style is very different from Izumi Sakai. I think it should be someone who the public does not know well yet, but the style and personality is somewhat similar. I don't know any candidates in particular, but I think Indies artist Maomi Yuuki has a chance. (She lives in Kanagawa) I seen Maomi sing about five or six times in Akihabara before, but her singing style (especially singing Takako Okamura's Yume wo Akiramenaide and Spitz's Unmei no Hito) is somewhat similar to Izumi Sakai as well as artists from that generation. The problem is Maomi-san is so messed up. She stopped singing CDs and does only gravure DVDs so I don't think a woman like that deserves to carry on Sakai-san. Hello. As far as the titles for such articles as Ryoujoku no Ame and Kisou, there may be a use found in the nihongo template for such romanization. I think Kisou is the known name for the album, and the preferred romanization style for the band (which is okay, so long as it doesn't break any English formatting rules or Wikipedia policies on format). The third field of the nihongo template is for the Hepburn (I think?) romanization style. so the template would appear as such

Kisou (鬼葬 Kisō?)

Hi, I'm just writing to you to request your help and assistance in referencing the Japanese Music Charts. Through out alot of popular english songs I have viewed I have noticed that they have been noted as performing well in Japan and have also read that the Japanese music market it very big. But in saying this every song I have seen has not got a Japanese chart position in the charts box. So if you are into music and willing to try and provide information on the Japanese Music Charts it would be greatly appreciated so then wikipedia users can start adding the Japanese chart positions into the chart boxes for popular songs. If you want to avoid blocks, you need to do several things. First, start providing edit summaries. Secondly, stop marking edits as minor if they are not minor. Third, if editors make comments on your talk page about these or other violations, don't ignore them. And finally, if there is a discussion about your problem edits on WP:ANI, don't ignore it. If you will edit with some respect for other editors and their opinions, you probably can avoid blocks. Ward3001 (talk) 15:06, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
