[edit] My thoughts on the table
First, I like the approach of having the general "Information" box, as it promotes meaningly sentences, and content, and not just a directory listing. It avoids the rigidity of having to repeat a particular item of data for every school, or not having it for any, so this is better than many school tables I've seen.
On the mildly negative side, I'm a little worried about the complexity of the table code, such as use of rowspan/colspan. I've actually done tables as complicated as this, so I probably shouldn't talk; but I'm a little worried about maintainability for novices. I want to know that a novice can update just one small piece of information, without familiarizing themselves with the overall table. Given that a rowspan/colspan isn't absolutely needed, except for minor formatting, I'm not sure of its purpose. I used rowspan/colspan myself for Alberta charter schools, but that was just to avoid repeating a field value multiple times (and I'm not even sure I should have done that).
I'm actually not concerned if this specific table is changed, but I thought I'ld make comments, as this may be used as a model for others, if many mergers/redirects take place soon (as seems likely). --Rob 09:29, 17 November 2005 (UTC)
- Actually one of the reason i started this was to use as a frame work for discussing the merge/redirect issues with respect to a recent Afd. The more I look at this i feel the break out point should be when the information box can no longer hold the information. I would imagine that four lines is close to the max for a useful table. [edit] Information Boxes
I'd like to just comment that the information box data for the High School is not entirely true- I see the data is based on the school district website. I can vouch as a student that a "paperless curriculm" does not exsist as the statement declares. Like most schools I presume, there are school-wide emails sent out to teachers, but NEVER have I heard of a paperless test, worksheet, or assignments. The district has [after 4 years of using Powerschool] made the availability of parent/student login to check grades, but that is all. How can I make a change to this by using a verifable source? I disagree with the original source and can not prove it to be true. 71.225.203.38jowe
