Hatcher Winery is a family-owned boutique winery in Murphys, California specializing in small lot production of super-premium wines. [edit] History

The winery was founded by Matthew Hatcher, and opened in 2002. Matthew was an amateur winemaker before starting the commercial venture.[1] The first vintage for Hatcher Winery was 2002, and was produced at a custom crush facility at the Olde Lockeford Winery in Lodi. Rather than build a new winery facility, Hatcher purchased the old Murphys Creek Brewery building near the town of Angels Camp, and produced the 2003 vintage there.[2]

The winery operates a tasting room in a building on Main Street in downtown Murphys that is open to the public.[3]

[edit] Wines and vineyards

The Hatcher Winery estate vineyard is located near Angels Camp in Calaveras County.[1] The winery produces primarily red wines, including varietal Zinfandel, Tempranillo, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, and a red blend that features wine grape varieties native to the Rhône Valley of southern France. The winery produces a white wine made from Viognier.[4]
