Hasyim Asy'ari

Hasyim Asy'arie (often Asy'ari or Asyari in English, or Ashari in Malay) (10 April 1875 – 25 July 1947) was the founder of Nahdatul Ulama, a traditionalist Sunni Islam group in Indonesia.
He was the father of Wahid Hasyim. His grandson Abdurrahman Wahid was president of Indonesia from 1999 to 2001.
