From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Haslach is a district of the German city Freiburg. It was incorporated in to the city on 1 January 1890.

[edit] History

Haslach was first mentioned in a document in the year 786. The document, a deed of donation, transferred ownership of some land from Heimo to his daughter, including Haslach (then called Haslaha). The parish was first mentioned in 1261. After the founding of Freiburg in 1118, Haslach started to develop more rapidly. This was most certainly due to the proximity of Haslach and Freiburg and therefor enabling Haslach access to the market in Freiburg. During the Thirty Years' War from 1618 to 1648, Haslach was completely destroyed in 1633.
