[edit] Athinai

Hi Mr. Boyles,

I have re-established the SS Athinai (1908) page, in greater context. I had inadvertantly posted the version of the page that you saw while in the midst of typing it, having inadvertently pressed "Save Page" instead of "Show Preview". I hope that the revised version meets your specifications.

[edit] Skaggs Family

Hi, back on 30 April you deleted an image I had provided, named <Mb and store.jpg>, that sat at the beginning of an article on the above subject. I can't find the deleted image to learn why you did it but a glimpse of a header somewhere indicated that it had some license problem. I have been working hard for over a year through more than one lawyer at Safeway to get that image cleared for open use. I got that release a few days before posting it and, to my surprise and regret, in one day it was deleted. Being unfamiliar with the Wiki world, I may have not used the correct designator for the image. I have notification by the Safeway law office that it is okay for unrestricted or open use. Does that fact help in trying to reinstate the image at the opening of the article? I thought the image and its title helped convey what the article would be about and certainly dressed it up a bit. Can you help me reinstated it? Thanks, Don Nielson Don Nielson 05:31, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:Dementor Prisoner of Azkaban.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Dementor Prisoner of Azkaban.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:05, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Template:Current

Template:Current looks really messed up after your last edit on it. Shouldn't it be at least centered and have a border around it? That would differentiate it from article content, because it looks like part of the article on certain pages where I've seen this. --Gary King 21:34, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] F3 Comment on Fikri Page

I dont know whether Fikri replied to and i know its been 7 months since you put the post about the fact that the distance sign on the F3 stated Newcastle and Maitland as 3km apart, but just to make sure. If you already know, delete this now. The route of the F3 ends at a point halfway between Newcastle and Maitland which is why the distances are so close. Im sure you know.Roadrunnerz45 08:28, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] ESR - sorry.

There was no intention to remove your edits - feel free to put them back. What I was going to do was revert completely but put your edits in - but I decided there were only two changes worth reverting (which were in a quote) so I attempted to work off the existing page; something must have gone wrong and I deleted your good work. I'm sorry - please put it back - it was a good edit. JRG 06:52, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Oz votes

Looking at this diff, when you wikilink dates, it would be helpful if you put them in the correct format for the subject. --Pete 02:51, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

For what it's worth, as long as the date is wikilinked, it will display in the format that the user selects in their preferences. --Ssbohio (talk) 04:13, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AfD on Westroads Mall massacre

Concerning the edit you made to my comment while closing the AfD, I think it helped matters. Thanks. --Ssbohio (talk) 04:13, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Yes, indeed. I was just perusing the latest batch of AfD closures, and ran across this. Well done - I think you handled a sticky close very well, and wanted to stop by and tell you so. Pastordavid (talk) 00:57, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] why?

Why did you delete our page about the holy Robbin Wall. We were not attacking him, in fact, he is the leader of our religion. THIS IS GARFUNKEL! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.117.144.106 (talk) 18:54, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Habitation

Hello, I just noticed that you redirected Habitation to Habitat (disambiguation) last April. I disagree with this and would like to reopen the discussion. The Habitation at Port-Royal is referred to simply as "the Habitation" in many historical texts, whereas I don't think any of the Habitat (disambiguation) items are normally referred to as "Habitation". The Port-Royal historical site comes in at the top of a google search for "Habitation". What do you think?--Yannick (talk) 01:33, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Empire of Japan (foreign commerce and shipping)

Just an FYI - in this change you selected the newer date when cleaning up after smackbot. I changed the date back to the older date of June 2006. No big deal, just wanted to let you know. I will drop Rich a note to see why smackbot did that to the date. Jeepday (talk) 03:28, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Creating a username

Thanks for your message, but I will remain to be identified by my IP address because in the past, there has been some issues with my username and some other admin. people on here were treating me unfairly and accusing me of being a sockpuppet, which resulted in getting blocked.

Cheers,

--122.106.27.175 (talk) 10:42, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

You keep on sending me messages saying that I am disruptive, I am not sure what I have done, could you please explain that, and in advance if I have done anything wrong- sorry.

[edit] Reverting

Quick question: I can't seem to figure out how to revert someone's edits when they blank a page or vandalize in some other manner. I'm not referring to the (undo) button, but when it says "Reverted edits by 123.456.789 (talk) to last version by John Doe" The reason I ask is because someone was removing a section (with references) from the UP Sigma Rho article and when i tried to undo it, it didn't work right. I'm trying to revert it to the original version before the edit war. Thanks for your help. --AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 02:26, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

The feature you're referring to is the "rollback" function. This is only available to admins and selected users. It makes reverting simple vandalism edits easier because the revert is done entirely on the server (no data is transferred to the client). As for UP Sigma Rho, I've semi-protected the page. Hi there. Please note that, as far as I know, this semicolon did not "fix" anything, it simply makes no difference. —AlexSm 03:22, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] DAB Page API

Hihi

working on DABs and stumbled on API (disambiguation) and saw your comment on the talk page from many years ago [[1]] Did that redirect ever happen? I'd like to do the same thing...several hundred links and more than 10 of them refer to something else, I'd be surprised :) Legotech (talk) 05:37, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

It did happen, but it's been changed back. There was discussion on Talk:API with (what little there is) debate on whether the interface article is dominant enough to warrant the redirect. I've given up on the issue. Harryboyles 12:07, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Help with creating a template

I have been trying to figure out how to create templates, and I have been having a lot of difficulty. I have been using Sandbox, but have not succeeded in making it work out.

In particular, I have been having trouble with making a page-top template. I want to make one called "Template:Barenotability" that can be placed on the top of an article that seems to barely meet notability requirements. I want it to say something like the following:

This page seems to just barely meet Wikipedia's notability requirements. This notability may be disputed, and it is possible this article may be proposed for deletion. Please help by adding references, or if no more can be found, merging this article.

The purpose of this template would be to motivate the improvement of existing articles that are minimally referenced.

I have also been trying to figure out how to create the templates that appear at the bottom of many pages that list many article within a category, but I think I have nearly mastered that. These have become popular, and I would like to create some myself.Hellno2 (talk) 04:33, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Take a look at this

Userpage User:LB1011 Its basically a resume, is that allowed? Thanks Roadrunnerz45 (talk 2 me) 03:57, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

I've blanked the page to protect the user's privacy, and left an explanation on their talk page. It isn't the place to be putting that kind of information, so I've advised him to do a search for sites which do that sort of thing. Harryboyles 04:30, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Invalid date

If you can, have a look at Drainage in New Orleans, it shouldn't be in the category, but I don't have time to figure out why it is. Thanks. Rich Farmbrough, 10:23 4 June 2008 (GMT).
