Warakurna is located at the edge of the Rawlinson Ranges, 830km west of Alice Springs NT and 332km west of the town of Yulara by way of the Great Central Road. It has a Latidude of 25 degrees, 2 min, 69 sec South and a Longitude of 128 degrees, 17 min, 8 sec East. This community operates on CDT.

At the last census the population of the community, as given by the Community Development Advisor (CDA) 150 people.

This thriving community has many ammenenties available to it.

The first is the comprehensive community store. Always well stocked, open everyday with an ATM facility and EFTPOS. A large woman's centre exists within this community. It has a kitchen, sewing and art facilities. The woman's council provide funds for a part-time co-ordinator for this service.

The Warakurna Arts Centre is a supurb facility offering many of the local artists a location where they can create many of their regional art works. Just a few of the extrordinary artist at Warakurna include Eunice Porter, Thomas Mitchell and Cecily Yates.

Recreation facilities include a football oval for the mighty Warakurna Kangaroos to train on. This oval has lights allowing the team to practice in the cooler time of the evening. A sizeable indoor heated swimming pool measuring 25m x 10m is available all year round for the community. A basketball court, gym and covered hall are also available for community use.

A well equipped health clinic staffed by a Nurse with an emergency vehicle is located within the community. 24/7 contact with the RFDS from either Alice Springs or Kalgoorlie ensures emergency situations are dealt with expiditiously. The Warakurna airstrip is open, lit and in excellent condition also available 24/7 when required.
