[edit] Hindu Population Incorrect

According to the official census of India (http://www.censusindia.net/religiondata/), the Hindu proportion of Haryana is 88% Hindu, 5.8% Muslim, and 5.5% Sikh. This is from an actual source. I would like to see if others agree before I make the change. I think for all Indian articles, when reporting religious demographics, we should use the Census of India rather than unofficial sources. -amitroy5

I changed it to the source (http://www.censusindia.net/religiondata/). Parihav 15:37, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Mythology?

Mythological stories are sold as historical deeds in the history chapter! What is this to be? Hindu-belief is one thing, but here you should stick to facts not fiction.--84.179.86.240 06:56, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

Well, if you feel that the article is in a bad state, feel free to improve it> This is a wiki so anyone can edit this article including you. I strongly feel that some kind of archeological research should be taken privately in kurukshetra place rather than depending on Govt. of India as they always doesn't show interest in hinduism related ancient facts.

That is the result why people are using a word called mythology. I hope that would not used soon with the efforts of Wikipedia and international organizations.

[edit] Vast majority of the ethnic Hindu population?

I removed this statement because it doesn't make any sense. I have no idea what idea it was trying to convey. If someone does know, then I suggest a rewrite to clarify. Acsenray 14:28, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

Today, Haryana has the vast majority of the ethnic Hindu population.
It means that when the original Punjab split into two, Haryana retained the majority (65% ish I think) of the Hindu population. It needs clarification though. Sukh | ਸੁਖ | Talk 14:41, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Template for Collaboration

Great to see my home state as COTW! The template from Wikiproject Indian States should be helpful in expanding the articles. I will see if I can find some photographs in my collection. --Longhairandabeard 08:14, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Pics

Found one that may be useful:

Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Medical Research & Education, Agroha (Hisar district)
Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Medical Research & Education, Agroha (Hisar district)

This is the second medical college of Haryana, although it is not recognized yet by the Medical Council of India.

Flag of Haryana?
Flag of Haryana?

Is this really the flag of Haryana as claimed in the picture's description? --Longhairandabeard 08:48, 1 August 2006 (UTC) I would seriously doubt that. --Soman 10:07, 1 August 2006 (UTC) Found some more.. --Longhairandabeard 04:43, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Punjabi

Is Punjabi the second official language of Haryana like it is in Delhi? I'm not so sure and I cannot find information on this online. Sukh | ਸੁਖ | Talk 10:28, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Yup it is, since 2004.. Found it in good ol' Tribune. [1] --Longhairandabeard 15:31, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Map

Hey! The map does not indicate the location of Haryana. It is a blank map to be edited as to indicate the locations of the respective states. (I don't know how to do that work properly, unfortunately.) Cheers, Krankman 06:58, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

I have replaced the old map. The Wikiproject Indian Maps is working on creating locator maps for all states. Once they create one for Haryana, it can be replaced here. -- Longhairandabeard 15:37, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:HaryanaSeal.jpg

Image:HaryanaSeal.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
