[edit] Vandalism Of this Site

[edit] The Hung Monkey

"Hartlepool Rovers RFC, who use the hanging monkey as the club logo and on tours would hang a monkey on the posts of the rugby pitch to spread the story."

Surely not an actual monkey? (Is it a banner, a stuffed toy...?) --Greg K Nicholson 23:42:53, 2005-09-03 (UTC)

I am a current hartlepool rovers player , and yes it is a stuffed toy monkey with a rope around its neck , im lead to belive that the tradition of hanging the monkey is decades old , and im sure it will continue for many a year.

[edit] Main Page verification

Can someone explain what the problem is with the main page - all looks true and proper to me or is it just one of the cyber nerd moderators opinion - —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.143.10.107 (talk) 10:53, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Hello, and thank you for your note. The problem is that an article of this size (20.1kB) should certainly have more than just a single citation. Without citations to reliable sources there is no way to verify whether the information presented it correct or not. Without citations somebody could make up whatever information about the town they wished; negative, positive, or just silly. Including proper references (preferably using footnotes) not only keeps the page within Wikipedia' policies, but it also helps the regular reader have confidence in the factuality of the information presented. I hope I have addressed your concerns, please feel free to write again if you wish to discuss this further. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 02:55, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] The Liverpool Lemur

It seems every town and city has it's skeletons in the closet, but you have to dig very hard for some of them.

[edit] Emergency Services Wrong

In the boxout it shows the police and fire brigade as Durham when infact it is Cleveland. Can't see a way to edit this. Is this a system problem ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.15.169.140 (talk) 22:31, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Hartlepool angus.jpg

Image:Hartlepool angus.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
