[edit] Neutral POV
I agree that this article is not neutral. It would be nice to have an actual description of the Hartel events to go along with the polemic. Certainly the point of view of the participants needs to be identified and expressed. The only question is how to to that in a neutral, and encyclopedic way. The author of this piece does include some contray POV in his discussion of how some treat the "Old Left". Much of the factual material here belongs in the History of Sri Lanka article, and in an article on the Modern Political History of Sri Lanka in Politics of Sri Lanka. Bejnar 20:33, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
I've done some editing, deletion and verification, but the two sections EVENTS and LONG TERM EFFECTS need more work to clear-up POV issues. Is anyone else interested in this article? Bejnar 17:37, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
- In June of 2006 I tried to clean up the article and make it NPOV, but I did not have the data to clean up much of the "Events" and "Long-term effects" sections, so I tagged them, and so they have remained for sixteen months. I would recommend looking at The politics of Ceylon (Sri Lanka) (1973) by Robert N. Kearney; and The modern history of Ceylon (1966) by E. F. C. Ludowyk, but I do not have access to them. Politics in Sri Lanka, 1947-1973 (1974) by A Jeyaratnam Wilson also covers it, at least in passing, as shown in snippets from the Google book search. I am not sure that Hartal!... by Colvin R. De Silva of the Lanka Samasamaja Party, cited as a reference, should be considered a neutral source. --Bejnar 20:54, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
