The correct designation of the Chief Justice is

Chief Justice of the United States.

As written, the article would not allow the user to click on the Supreme Court link if that were simply changed, so the article would have to be slightly rewritten in order to designate the office properly.

Stone wrote several important decisions, but only one is mentioned in that article. That would not be a problem in and of itself. The case was Hansberry v. Lee, which also would not be a problem since Hansberry is a significant case (though perhaps not Stone's most significant). The problem is why Hansberry made the cut -- not because of its substance but rather because one of the parties had a daughter who wrote a significant play! That fact is worth mentioning in the article about the case itself, but really doesn't belong in the article about Stone. I'll resist the temptation to cut that line in case anyone cares to defend its inclusion.

[edit] Stone's death

The article reads that Stone is the only Supreme Court Justice who died during a court session. Technically, however, Stone suffered a stroke while presiding in open court, but was carried off the bench and did not die until several hours later. (The difference matters; I believe the court came back into session in the interim to hand down at least one 5-4 decision in which Stone's vote was dispositive.) I tried revising the sentence, but could not come up with a good wording. Suggestions? Newyorkbrad 01:55, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
