Harvey Walden IV (born December 21, 1966 in Chicago, Illinois) is a United States Marine, Drill instructor and television celebrity. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps at age 17 and completed boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD), San Diego, California.

[edit] Military career

Walden served as a Drill Instructor at MCRD, Parris Island, South Carolina, with platoons setting records in drill, fitness, and marksmanship skills. He retired from active duty in June 2007 at the rank of First Sergeant[1]. Walden was stationed at Quantico where he worked at Officer Candidate School during the summer making Marine Officers and Marine Corps University at the Command and Staff College and School of Advanced Warfighting (prior to his moving on to a tank unit[which?] in Fort Knox).

[edit] Post-active duty

Walden is best-known in the UK and US for his role as the expert fitness instructor on VH1's and ITV's prime-time shows Fat Club and Celebrity Fit Club. In the 2007 season of Fit Club, during a heated exchange, contestant Dustin Diamond (the Actor commonly known as Screech from Saved by the Bell) offhandedly challenged Walden to "physical combat" after refusing to follow their diet and exercise plans. Walden agreed to the challenge[2], however Diamond backed down. He is a father of two children; one boy, Harvey, Jr. and and one girl, Tiyauna[3].
