Harvest Bible Chapel

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Harvest Bible Chapel is a church started in Rolling Meadows, IL, in the United States, in 1988 by pastor James MacDonald, largely known for his national radio broadcast, Walk in the Word. In the fall of 1988, the church numbered eighteen individuals with a vision. The church grew considerably in size until 2000, when it planted its first church in Glen Ellyn, IL. In 2002, the church established Harvest Bible Fellowship, which is now a fellowship of 15 churches (as of July 2006) in the US and abroad that can trace their roots to Harvest Bible Chapel of Rolling Meadows. The church in Rolling Meadows now hosts more than 10,000 worshippers every weekend.

The church is known for its distinctives upon which the ministry is based. These are known as the Four Pillars.

  • Proclaiming the authority of God's Word without apology. 2 Timothy 4:2
  • Lifting high the name of Jesus through worship. John 4:24
  • Believing firmly in the power of prayer. Ephesians 6:18
  • Sharing the good news of Jesus with boldness. Ephesians 6:19-20

[edit] Church Plants

As of the beginning of 2008, Harvest Bible Chapel had planted nearly 30 churches. The majority of these churches are in Illinois, including many in the Chicago area, and several farther south in the state, such as Harvest Bible Chapel of Peoria in Central Illinois[1]. Many other of the church plants span across the U.S., into Canada, and even into Romania.[2][3] Many of these church plants currently rent space from either schools, convention centers, or other theaters to hold their services and other events. Some of these churches have acquired land on which to build a permanent location.
