Hartwig Gauder (born November 10, 1954 in Vaihingen an der Enz) is a former German race walker.
In 1996 Gauda started suffering from a virus infection of his heart. After living with an artificial heart for several months, he was transplanted a heart. After receiving a transplanted heart he has several times taken part in the New York Marathon. Almost ironically he was disqualified from it once. Being classified as a disabled participants, due to his transplantation, he was disqualified for being too fast as there was a minimum time, which he underran. His recovery from almost dying to returning into a normal life was covered in a documentary shown on German documetary channel Phoenix.
