[edit] Early years and personal life
Harshit Saxena, Born in Lucknow (U.P, India) is a 24-year-old singing sensation. Harshit is one of the many contestants who participated in Voice of India, the most watched musical competition in India. Harshit left his Physiotherapy semester exams for the Voice of India (VOI) auditions. Apprehensive about his decision to forego his semesters, his father told him to take the risk & that paid him. Harshit says family is the most important aspect of his life; he would not have been able to step towards his dream without the support of his family. With the support of his family, friends and fans, he reached the finals of the show with his close competitor Ishmeet Singh from Punjab. He won a motorcycle for getting the highest number of votes in one of the episodes. His Father said on the show "har maa baap ki ye ichcha hoti hain ki usaka bachcha kuch aisa kare ki vo sar utha ke chal sake aaj isane vo kar dikhaya hain ki aaj is bachche ki vajah se main is stage pe khada hoon apane aap ko bada saubhagyashali samajhata hu ki main isaka pita hoon mera pura ashirvad isake sath hain "(every father wants his son to do something that makes him proud and my son has done that so with a great proud on him i am standing here on this stage and my blessings are always with him).

His passion for singing began showing in his early school days when he was in class 8th. He was and is a die-hard fan of Kishore Da. Most beginners choose to perform popular numbers; he was busy grooming his voice so that he could at least match the melody and depth of kishore da. He used to record his songs on kishore da’s karaoke tracks at the tender age of 14. His mother & uncle(V.P. Srivastava) acted as his source of inspiration . Seeing his passion for singing his father bought him a home theatre recording system and after that, he had his own different world in his small room where he would practice for hours and hours. The credit for pushing harshit goes to his friends and teachers who forcefully sent his name for “Lucknow Mahotsav”-a famous mega cultural event in lucknow. He lost for 2 years in a row but didn’t lose hope. Keeping the fighting spirit he then went on to win the 1st prize there for 4 years and then he wasn’t allowed to participate more. As they say, without a teacher by your side, u learn but with a teacher you learn & groom your skill so Harshit started grooming his skill with Shri ?Gulshan Bharti ji as his ‘Guru’. He tried for many talent hunt shows but luck did not favor him. Then came VOI and rest is known to all. Now in 2008 he is a very good contestent in Jo Jeeta Wahi Superstar on Start TV. Most of the contestants in Jo Jeeta Wahi Superstar are cream from all ther reality shows that has happened so far on various indian tv channels.

Harshit has a distinctive style of singing that is completely unique and resembles with no one. He has sought much appreciation from the judging panel for his playback style of voice, something the industry has been missing. His vocal style is baritone; soft during romantic songs, but upbeat and powerful during pop songs. He is a humble and simple man who does not take his opportunity for granted. Being apart of Voice of India is a dream come true for him, he has been able to reach new heights. He says he got a lot of exposure during VOI. His current project with Mr. Bhatt, a proclaimed filmmaker, is playback for up coming movies. All the celebrity guests that came on the show praised him a lot. Shankar, Ehsaan, Loy promised to sing with him. He is surely singing with Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt . The best compliment he got until date was from Lata Mageshkar when all VOI participants reached to wish her birthday. Lata Ji considered Goddess Saraswati [Saraswati is Goddess of music and knowledge] said that "Harshit you are the VOI and you deserve to be the VOI" On being asked how do you feel as a heartthrob he replies with a shy and sweet smile "Its a headache wherever I go, girls catch me yet I am enjoying it and I love it " Every week highest vote getters are given a motor cycle and last week Harshit has got that. Harshit has also received a Chevrolet Spark, which was given to all top three contestants. Harshit is a very simple person with a lot of family values. He never misbehaves with any of his fans. He always attends them with a smile and says, "Whatever I am today is only because of my fans". He is humble enough to take his recognition in India & in other parts of the world too.

In his life his family is everything to him. Harshit has a closely knitted family with his parents, grandmother & an elder brother..He is yet a bachelor and enjoying it. He is very close to his mama Vishnu Prakash Saxena [maternal uncle ] and his phupha Mr. Rajiv Saxena . When he was asked on show that what will he do with car and money he will get if he becomes VOI he said "I will give the truck to my parents and will build a road house for all my family members".

People really feel that Harshit is the person who will bring the era of melody back .He can sing any song. He has a sweet heart-touching voice. His fans say, "He will be the Rafi or Kishore of our era" On show he sang the songs of different moods that shows his versatility. He sang " Ek Hasina Thi ek diwana tha " that was very well praised by everyone , after that his journey began at the show and then he never looked back . He sang Dilbar mere kab tak mujhe , root aa gayi re , tum mile , hare rama hare krishna , chand mera dil , rock and roll , rooth ke humase kahin , Darde disco , om shanti om , thodi si jo peeli hain , rafta rafta and much more and each of his performance was marvelous .
Harshit is a quiet person. He is an introvert who speaks very less. His mother teases him that "we are dying to hear your voice and we have forgotten your voice ". Lalit ji One of the judges at VOI introduced him saying "Milega parinde ko bhi aasmaan ye phaile hue unake par bolate hain aur vo khamosh rehate hain aksar zamane me jinke hunar bolate hain".
