Harry Skinner

Harry Skinner (May 25, 1855 - May 19, 1929) was a U.S. Representative from North Carolina, brother of Thomas Gregory Skinner.
Born near Hertford, North Carolina, Skinner attended Hertford Academy and was graduated from the law department of the University of Kentucky at Lexington. He was admitted to the bar in 1876 and commenced practice in Greenville, North Carolina. He served as member of the town council in 1878. He served as member of Governor Jarvis' staff and served as aide-de-camp 1879-1886. He served as chairman of the Democratic executive committee of the First Congressional District 1880-1890. He served as chairman of the Democratic executive committee of Pitt County 1880-1892. He served as member of the State house of representatives in 1891 and 1892. He served as chairman of the Populist executive committee of Pitt County 1892-1896. He served as member of the State central committee 1892-1896. Trustee of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill 1890-1896.
Skinner was elected as a Populist to the Fifty-fourth and Fifty-fifth Congresses (March 4, 1895-March 3, 1899). He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1898 to the Fifty-sixth Congress. United States district attorney for the eastern district of North Carolina 1902-1910. He resumed the practice of his profession in Greenville, North Carolina. He died in Greenville, North Carolina, May 19, 1929. He was interred in Cherry Hill Cemetery.
Harry Skinner January 4, 1995, was educated at William Gilbert C of E primary school, until 2007, where he went to The Ecclesbourne School,which he attends presently. Skinner is passionate about skiing.
