Harris Township is a township in Centre County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is part of the State College, Pennsylvania Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 4,657 at the 2000 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 31.9 square miles (82.7 km²), all of it land.

Harris Township is bordered by College Township to the north, Potter Township to the east and Huntingdon County to the south.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 4,657 people, 1,752 households, and 1,356 families residing in the township. The population density was 145.9 people per square mile (56.3/km²). There were 1,855 housing units at an average density of 58.1/sq mi (22.4/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 95.28% White, 1.31% African American, 0.06% Native American, 1.63% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 0.26% from other races, and 1.40% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.16% of the population.

There were 1,752 households out of which 37.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.5% were married couples living together, 7.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.6% were non-families. 18.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 3.04.

In the township the population was spread out with 28.4% under the age of 18, 4.6% from 18 to 24, 27.8% from 25 to 44, 27.4% from 45 to 64, and 11.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 95.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.7 males.

The median income for a household in the township was $60,420, and the median income for a family was $62,222. Males had a median income of $47,949 versus $26,960 for females. The per capita income for the township was $31,904. About 4.9% of families and 6.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 11.1% of those under age 18 and 2.0% of those age 65 or over.
