Harris Beach

Harris Beach PLLC is a large regional law firm based in Rochester, New York. It has about 200 attorneys in offices throughout New York State as well as one office in New Jersey. It is one of the largest 250 law firms in the United States.

Harris Beach started in Rochester in 1856 as Harris & Ives, by Edward Harris and Henry Ives.

Harris Beach represented Xerox Corporation in securing some of their first patents on photocopiers.

Notable members of Harris Beach include Hugh L. Carey, former governor of New York.

Harris Beach opened its New York City office in 1996. It formerly had its New York City office in the World Trade Center, on the 85th floor of 2 World Trade Center. Their office was directly in the impact area of United Airlines Flight 175 in the September 11, 2001 attacks. Three attorneys and two staffers for Harris Beach were killed in the attack. The attorneys were Joanne Flora Weil, 39; Mark A. Brisman, 34; and Andrew Steven Zucker, 27. The staffers were Irina Kolpakova, 37, a file clerk, and Sharon Cristina Millan Paz, 31, from Colombia, an office services coordinator.
