Harold MacDowell

Harold MacDowell is a construction company executive.

Born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Harold MacDowell graduated from high school in Fort Smith, Arkansas and received his Bachelor's degree in Engineering Management from Southern Methodist University (SMU) in 1984. He entered the construction industry as an estimator through SMU's School of Engineering Cooperative Education Program and later became a Project Manager for Wallace Mechanical Corporation. Harold is now the CEO of TDIndustries, which was ranked 35 in FORTUNE 's 100 Best Companies to Work For 2008.

Harold began his career with TDIndustries in 1985 as an Assistant Project Manager on The Crescent project. After three years, Harold was asked to lead the interior construction group. A year he later was named Vice President in 1989, and the year after that named Vice President. Harold was given the opportunity to lead TDIndustries service operations in Dallas and Fort Worth in 1992. Within four years, he was also given responsibility of three of TD’s branch offices in Houston, Austin, and San Antonio. Additionally, Harold assisted in the new business start-ups of Facilities Management and the Phoenix branch. In 1993, Mr. MacDowell was appointed to TDIndustries' board of directors and, in 2001, he was named managing director. Harold MacDowell, a 20-year TDIndustries partner, was promoted to Chief Executive Officer of the firm in 2005, becoming the third CEO of TDIndustries. He succeeded Jack Lowe, Jr., who had been CEO since 1980 and continues to serve on the board.

Harold currently serves as a member of the Dallas Citizen’s Council, the Board of the Greater Dallas Chamber, Trustee for the Parish Episcopal School, and the QUOIN-AGC Board. He is a Past Chairman of the Board for the Construction Education Foundation that provides educational opportunities to construction craftspeople who want to be masters of their trades. Harold also is a member of the SMU School of Engineering Executive Advisory Board. He is involved in Habitat for Humanity.
