Harold Klunder

Harold Klunder is a Canadian painter. Born in 1943 in Deventer, the Netherlands, he immigrated with his family to Canada in 1952. He has exhibited his work throughout Canada, Europe, the United States, Australia, Japan, Italy and China. His work is in many public and private collections including the National Gallery of Canada, Art Gallery of Ontario, Art Gallery of Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Musee de Contemporain, Montreal.

Principally known for his abstract paintings based on the self-portrait and for using vast quantities of paint on works that take years to complete he also has an extensive history of printmaking at workshops throughout Canada.

Harold Klunder's work has been extensively reviewed and written about in contemporary art magazines and journals as recognition as Canada's premier abstractionist grows.
