Harold John Arthur (1904-1971) was a Governor of the United States state of Vermont from 1950 to 1951. He also served as Lieutenant Governor of Vermont from 1949 to 1950.
He did not seek reelection to the Governor's Office in 1950. He ran unsuccessfully for the nomination for US Congress in 1958.
He was born in Whitehall, Washington County, N.Y., February 9, 1904. He took up residence in Burlington, Vermont. He was an attorney. He was a major in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a Unitarian.
His remains were entombed in mausoleum at Lake View Cemetery, Burlington, Vt.
