Harmony School of Excellence (commonly referred to as HSE) is a college preparatory charter school in Houston, Texas. It is a member of the 14-school Harmony School System and is celebrating its second year. It is a college prep school, placing an emphasis on science, mathematics, and computer technologies.
Harmony School of Excellence was rated exemplary by the Texas Education Agency in its first year of operation, becoming part of the 2.2% of all public schools districts and 7.9% of all public campuses that were rated as exemplary in 2007. In its first year, HSE students received various awards in different competitions, such as 1st Place Individual in Math Counts Houston Region, 2nd Place in National Chess Tournament, 1st place in Regional Science Olympiad as a team, Eight Category awards in Regional Science Olympiad, Grand award in Houston Science And Engineering Fair, Total 11 awards in Houston Science And Engineering Fair, 2 Young Scientist Award Nomination by Discovery Channel, and 2nd place in Texas Science and Engineering Fair.[citation needed]
Harmony Schools are run by the non-profit sponsoring entity, the Cosmos Foundation Inc, which was founded in 1999 by educators from universities such as the University of Texas, Texas A&M, Rice University, and the University of Houston.
