Coordinates: 31°38′N 75°50′E / 31.64, 75.84 Hariana is a city and a municipal council in Hoshiarpur district in the Indian state of Punjab. Hariana is named after Guru Hari Sen; the guru of the famous singer Tansen. It was a famous music gharana once. Gujjar mal vasudev raagi & pandit telu ram were famous singers & residents of hariana.When the mugals entered into India; they made a Quila in a place called Malot nearby Hariana & Hariana was their tehsil at that time. the city has provided a lot of freedom fighters like Sardar Partap Singh Wasal & Pandit Jagat Ram. Tt is also the city of famous writer S.Jagjit Singh Komal.
