The Hari Sri Vidya Nidhi School (commonly abbreviated as HSVN) is a school in Thrissur, Kerala, India. It was founded in 1978 by Mrs. Nalini Chandran, the school's first principal who even today remains a major driving force. Her incredible fight against the odds in the face of the death of her husband to start the school whose nucleus is the Hari Sri Nursery School (which is still active, though run privately by Ms. Chandran)is the stuff of school legends. The school is registered as a charitable society and is affiliated to the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi (CISCE) which conducts the ICSE and Indian School Certificate (ISC) exams.

The Current Principal is Ms. Jayanthi Nair, and the Vice Principal is Ms. Jaya Narayanan.

HSVN enjoys an excellent reputation in the Trichur district, if not the state of Kerala as being one of best schools academically, co-curricular wise and also in the field of sports. The school is also noted for the spoken English ability of its students, a trait inculcated into the system by the founder principal, Ms. Nalini Chandran. The teachers of Hari Sri also enjoy a well deserved reputationa s being among the best set of teachers around.

The school places an emphasis on secular, equal-status to all, no-tension mode of education, with no extra emphasis on a particular aspect of the student, except perhaps, on the strong moral values which are instilled from a very early age onwards. This is reflected in the school motto coined by Ms. Chandran: "Let the peal of harmony be the appeal of all religions"

The Silver Jubilee of the school was celebrated in the year 2003, when a grand celebratory event was conducted including a 4-day cultural programmes.

The students are divided into 4 sections: Lower Primary (L.P), Upper Primary (U.P), High School and Plus Two. Besides this, for the purpose of competitions, etc. the students are grouped into four houses named after 4 major Indian rovers: Ganga (house color red), Krishna (blue), Godavari (Green) and Kaveri (yellow). The school has a strength of about 1500 students.

HSVN has a unique 4-tier system of governance. This involves the following:

1. The Principal and Vice Principal 2. Section Heads 3. Teachers 4. Captains

The 4th tier (Captains) are students, led by a School Captain, and includes 13 other captains as well : School Vice Captain, Co-Curricular Captain and Vice Captain, Sports Captain and Vice Captain, and House Captain and Vice Captain ( Four houses)

The captaincy awarded to the students are heavily prized and held with considerable pride. Students vie each time for the honor of leading their school. The posts are open only to students of the eleventh standard. The top 3 posts (School, Co-Curricular, Sports) are decided by the teaching staff, with all house captains decided by elections. Only once in the school history have all posts been selected via popular vote: in 1998, when George M. Paily (universally regarded as one of the finest, if not the best student the school has ever produced) swept the school captain post with a considerable majority.

Though the school captain is the official leader, no special concession is given, and as is famously repeated year after year, he/she is simply "the best among equals".
