Hari Om Sharan is one of the most noted 'Bhajan' singers and lyricist in India. He became a popular Bhajan singer, in the 70s-80s, with his albums like "Premanjali Pushpanjai", and "Data Ek Ram" and bhajans like, Tera Ram ji Karenge Bedaa Paar', 'Maili Chadar Odhke Kaise', 'Aarti Kunj Bihari ki', 'Aisa Pyar Bahaa De Maiyya', 'Shree Radhey Govind'.

During his career spanning over 35 year he released over 20 Bhajan albums [1].

Hari Om Sharan became as a professional singer in 1973, when was discovered by HMV [2].

His bhajans are sung across North India. Even in Kashmir and Jammu valley his bhajans are sung and the local singer may not always know or come across his name, he became a legend in his life time. Rarely there will be days when the AIR Vividh Bharathi does not relay a bhajan of his in the morning programme from 6 to 6.30 AM. He is well respected in Indian communities in West Indies, Trinindad and Guyana.

He had a rare insight to handle normally not heard compositions of Kabir, Kamal, Raidas etc. Those who have heard him in his pristine days can never forget his very melodious voice and the impact it created on them. He does sing with simplicity and understatement and does nothing to exaggerate. His pronunciation and enunciation is crystal clear and his feel is unmistakable. His pronunciation of sanskrit verses is excellent and the phonetics comes out distinctly.

He also appeared briefly in English film Holy Smoke (1999), as a song performer [3].

In 2004, a tribute album to his career was released, "Hari Om - A Life in Prayer", with songs of top Indian Singers, like Sonu Nigam, Hari Haran, Anup Jalota etc[4].

Hari Om Sharan passed on December 17, 2007, in Queens, New York [5], and is survived by his wife and singing partner Nandini.

He has the most popular bhajan which is listen by all indians although they don't know who have sung this bhajan. The most famous "Hanuman chalisa" in indian History.
