The HarbourFront MRT Station (NE1/CC29) is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) interchange station between the North East Line and the Circle Line in Singapore. It is located in the south of Singapore next to the HarbourFront Centre, previously known as the Singapore World Trade Centre. It currently (as of 2007) serves as a terminal station of the North East MRT line.
HarbourFront Station is next to the HarbourFront Centre and VivoCity, and is connected to Sentosa by cable car. Buses to and from Sentosa do so from a bus interchange next to the station. The Sentosa Express monorail line to Sentosa is also be an interchange for this new line. Opened on January 15, 2007, Sentosa became more effectively linked with most of the towns of Singapore.
The week after VivoCity opened, weekend passenger traffic had doubled to more than 60 000 passengers each day, surpassing Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station, formerly the busiest station on the Northeast Line. Due to the sudden jump in passenger traffic, the number of faregates facing the linkway to VivoCity had been increased by 2 from 7.
The HarbourFront MRT Station also provides public transport to the prominent tourist destination of Mount Faber, of which HarbourFront lies in its shadow, and lies within the Bukit Merah planning area.
The interior of the station features the artwork Enigmatic Appearances by Ian Woo.

[edit] Circle Line
When it is connected to the Circle Line in 2011, it will serve as an interchange station between the Circle and North East lines and will be the only interchange station that terminates 2 train lines.
The Circle line will intersect the North East line three times, once at HarbourFront, again at Dhoby Ghaut, and lastly at Serangoon.
The station is going under some remodelling to accommodate the Circle Line. When completed, passengers travelling from the North East Line will only need to come up to the ticketing level, pass through the current General Ticketing Machines and down escalators to transfer to the Circle Line.
[edit] NE2
In the LTA original plans for the North East Line, there were plans for 16 stations including the unopened Woodleigh station and low yielding Clarke Quay and Buangkok stations. But when SBS Transit opened the line, NE1 was HarbourFront and NE3 was Outram Park, meaning that there are plans for a station in between the 2 interchanges. The station is expected to serve Bukit Purmei estate.
Other than possible low yielding, the station may not be built anytime soon due to political reasons. The station would have been located near the Malaysia-owned railway lands and construction would require the need to seek their permission.
