Haram is a municipality in the county of Møre og Romsdal, Norway. The administrative center is Brattvåg, the industrial sweetspot of Sunnmøre.

Haram was established as a municipality January 1, 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). Vigra was separated from Haram January 1, 1890. Vatne, and a part of Borgund, were merged with Haram January 1, 1965.

The municipality (originally the parish) is named after the farm Haram (Old Norse Harhamarr), since the first church was built there. The meaning of the first element is unknown, the last element is hamarr m 'rocky hill'.

Until 1889 the name was written Harham.

The dialect of the district was well-known for its practice of H-dropping - and the old and traditional pronunciation of the name of the municipality was [a:ram].
