[edit] Please provide an edit summary

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.  V60 VTalk · VDemolitions 20:48, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Interstate 54 Business (El Cajon, California)

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Interstate 54 Business (El Cajon, California), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. [edit] Todos and CASRs

Todo templates on CASR talk pages are really unimportant... there are more important tasks at WP:CASH that need to be done. --Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 04:25, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

I am actually also working on the completion list!!
-Happy5214 01:25, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
There is already a completion list. --Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 04:14, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

One question!! How can I provide quick links to my user subpages??
-Happy5214 16:17, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
You can do a link from your main user page to the subpages by starting the link with a slash. E.g. to make a link from your user page to your Projects page, type [[/Projects]]. —Scott5114 02:50, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

To get onto IRC:

  • Go into your buddy list, and in the Accounts menu, select "Add/Edit".
  • A dialog will pop up; from there hit "Add".
  • Configure the following:
    • The protocol is "IRC".
    • The screen name is your Wikipedia username (Happy5214)
    • The server is "irc.freenode.net"
    • Leave password and local alias blank, and then hit save.
  • You should be able to get onto IRC now; just hit close on the Accounts dialog.

Now, a chat window should appear. If you get something like:

freenode-connect: Received CTCP 'VERSION' (to Happy5214) from freenode-connect

you are good to go. Simply type /j #wikipedia-en-roads-us into the message box, and you should be in. V60 干什么? · 喝掉的酒 · ER 4 02:22, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] CA infoboxes

Thanks for your work on CA-139. Just note that you don't need to include blank parameters (such as alternate_name=, map=, etc.) --Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 22:02, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] CA infoboxes 2

I've noticed that you've been working on some of these in your sandbox... when you've done one, could you go ahead and put it on the corresponding page? (These need to be taken care of ASAP since they've been broken since January). Thanks! --Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 20:51, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] An important letter

Dear roads editor,

You may have noticed some changes at WP:USRD lately. Some of them, like the cleanup templates and the stub templates, have been astounding and great. Unfortunately, others have been disturbing.

This has become evidenced by the departure of a few prominent editors at USRD, a few RFC's, and much fighting among USRD editors.

After the second RFC, many of us found the opportunity to take a step away from Wikipedia for a while--as a self-imposed wikibreak, or possibly on vacation.

The result of such introspection was that many of us were placing ourselves in a "walled garden" and on a self-imposed pedestal of authority over the roads department. Also, we were being hostile to a few users who were not agreeing with us.

In fact, IRC has been the main incarnation of this "walled garden." Decisions have been made there to conduct grudges and prejudices against a few valued USRD users with poor justification.

For this, we have come to apologize. We have come to ask your forgiveness.

In addition to this, we hope to work as one USRD team from now on and to encourage cooperation instead of the promotion of interests.

All users are welcome to collaborate on IRC, the newsletter, or anywhere else at USRD.

In the future, please feel free to approach us about any issues you may have.

Regards,

Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 17:21, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] IRC log

Could you remove your log of the IRC argument? Per WP:HWY/IRC, it is not allowed to post anything from IRC on Wikipedia unless it is an official meeting. Thanks, Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 06:31, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] USRD Inactivity check and news report

Hello, Happy5214. We had a few urgent matters to communicate to you:

  1. Please update your information at Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. Roads/Participants, our new centralized participant list. Those who have not done so by October 20th will be removed.
  2. There are important discussions taking place at WT:USRD relating to whether WP:USRD, WP:HWY, or the state projects should hold the "power" in the roads projects.

Regards, Rschen7754 (T C) 23:19, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] USH and IH tags

What are you doing? [1] is wrong; the USH and IH tags are not to be changed, if for no other reason than the "state=US" and "state=Interstate" code are better off not shown to the average user due to the potential for confusion. --TMF Let's Go Mets - Stats 22:05, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Then, why couldn't you have just put a note on the template saying that??
-Happy5214 22:08, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
I did in my reversion of your adding the deprecated tag. As for before that; yes, a note could have been added to the talk page, but I didn't foresee anyone trying to convert it. --TMF Let's Go Mets - Stats 22:10, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] School articles

The articles A. I. Collinson Elementary School and Amy Woodland Elementary School, where you have added evaluations to the talk pages, are in fact just redirects to the district articles.Brianyoumans (talk) 20:32, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

I did not make the evaluations, I just switched out the templates. In fact, I never made any edits to Talk:A. I. Collinson Elementary School at all.
Ah, my mistake, that was another editor. Brianyoumans (talk) 02:08, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
