"Happiness" is a song written by Elliott Smith which was first released as a single in 1999. A slightly different mix of the song was released on his album Figure 8 in 2000.

On Figure 8, the track is labeled as "Happiness/The Gondola Man" due to the short instrumental that plays after "Happiness" ends. On the single, an entirely different instrumental follows the song.

On early recording reels, the song was labeled as "Tom's Start".

An acoustic version of "Happiness" appears on the 3 Titres Inedits promo album.

[edit] Additional personnel

Jon Brion sings backup vocals on "Happiness".
