This page contains information concerning the followers of Hao Asakura in the manga/anime Shaman King.
Hao has several extremely loyal henchmen, which can go quite unnoticed as they blend into the story. Some have very minimal roles, but still contribute to the storyline. They are grouped into various teams in the manga, and have much more prominent roles.

[edit] Hana-gumi
The Hana-gumi (translation: Flower Team) is a trio of witches/shamans who follow Hao. In the anime, they are featured as the most prominent members and the most powerful in the group, though in the manga, they are only one of several powerful teams that follow Hao. They are later killed in by Peyote when he rebels against Hao. Their souls then attempt to beg Hao for help, but he only attempts to devour their souls to gain Reiroku. However this fails, and Anna saves and revives them, causing the Hana-gumi to respect Anna while their savior decides to force them to become maids at her Funbari Onsen resort. The Hana-gumi are:

She is the tall, blue-haired member of the group. She is from Germany, and is rarely seen without a cigarette in her mouth, which is often mistaken as a piece of Pocky. But she soon quits smoking after being advised to do so by Mikihisa, Yoh and Hao's father. In the North American version of the anime, it is edited out, which is ironic due to the fact that her oversoul's medium is the smoke of the cigarette. She rides a BMW motorcycle in the manga. In the American manga translation, her name is changed to Kanna.

They're Spirit Mediums are the guitars they use for their concerts, Ryo designed as a cross and Zen's a monk's staff. They have the ability to exorcise spirits, including those belonging to other shaman, by their music which is composed of Buddhist mantras which causes any spirit in the vicinity to ascend into Heaven. Their Guardian Spirits are the weak, but numerous, Chimi Chimi Morio, Earth Spirits that they use to blitz and overwhelm their opponents. Initially encountered by Yoh, they were defeated with ease by the awakened spiritual powers of "Wooden Sword" Ryu. Later, during the initial battle of the Shaman Fight, they were crushed easily by Chocolove (given the job to fight by Ren to test him out), but their unconscious bodies were used for the rest of the match by Peyote as part of his spiritual puppets. They were the other known lackeys Hao let go from his group without killing them, choosing to run off to pursue a real music career after losing.
In the anime, their names are revealed as Ryo Kamishiro and Zen Hoshi (Zen Hijiri in the Japanese version). While Ryo has a Judeo-Christian theme, Zen had a Buddhist theme. They are inspired by Japanese hard rock duo B'z.

Later on, he reappears in another battle against Ren and manages to kill him. His last appearance was very later on when becomes disillusioned and betrays Hao, killing his fellow followers and himself. He along with Turbine were the only two of Hao's henchmen that could not be revived due to their bodies being damaged beyond repair, even for revival. He usually says "Eres correcto", which would translate as a slightly mistranslated form of "You are correct" -the correct form would be "Estás en lo correcto"- whenever someone else makes a correct affirmation.

Horohoro's father also strolls by, and Bill goes to kill Horohoro's father but is knocked back by his spirit ally. Horohoro pointed out he looked more like Dracula than Boris. Angered, Boris killed him to eliminate confusion. Apparently he was the weakest member of the team as Turbine reassures Boris that it was okay that he died because they could probably find a replacement easily. He lost most of his body for reasons not revealed, so what's left of him now resides in a Lego-like figure that wears a hooded robe. He seems to be a good friend of Bigguy Bill Burton because Blocken is usually seen perched upon his shoulder. His furyoku count has risen significantly because of this, and he survives numerous battles. He attacks the Icemen with Bill, but is defeated by an intervening HoroHoro. He makes several appearances with Tsukigumi until he is almost killed by Peyote, the only survivor of Peyote's attacks. Voiced by: Kouki Miyata (Japanese), Marc Thompson (voice actor) (English)
Ashil (Known as Basil in the English dub) is a follower of Hao who took Boris' role of being the first on screen victim of the Archangels. Ashil was rather cocky, believing it would be easy to kill Yoh and his friends because of his easily regenerating spirit. Ashil was also revealed as having deep feelings for Hao. Ashil is jealous of Hao's interest in Yoh, allowing his deeper feelings to overpower his loyalty. He defied Hao by trying to "accidentally" kill Yoh when he was ordered to have Yoh live. He is killed by the X-Laws.
