[edit] Sailor Moon S Plot
The Talismans are three special weapons introduced in the third story arc of the Sailor Moon series. Finding the Talismans is a major plot point during this arc because bringing the three together causes an item called the Holy Grail to appear (or, in the English-dubbed anime, the Purity Chalice). In the hands of a powerful being called a Messiah, this item can bring about the destruction or the healing of the world.
The Talismans and Grail are sought by two groups. The Death Busters want it so that they can raise up their dark Messiah, who will bring about a cataclysmic event known as the Silence. Sailor Moon and her companions counter the Death Busters by defending the civilians they attack, but at first have limited understanding of the reason for the attacks. Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune, working independently, share vague premonitions of the future and the sense that they need to find the Talismans themselves even if it does mean the sacrifice of innocents. When joined by Sailor Pluto, they obtain some knowledge of the good Messiah and work to find and awaken her.
The Talismans themselves are known to be contained within the Pure Hearts of three individuals. They are the Deep Aqua Mirror, the Space Sword, and the Garnet Orb. They correspond to the three Sacred Treasures of Japan.
[edit] The Talismans
- The Deep Aqua Mirror was the first talisman to appear, and it belongs to Michiru Kaioh. It's called the Submarine Mirror in the anime.
The Deep Aqua Mirror has the ability to see through lies and to find enemies' weaknesses; it can also blast a powerful beam. It enables Sailor Neptune to use her Submarine Reflection attack. Sailor Chibi Moon once used it to warp herself to Sailor Neptune's location.
- The Space Sword is the second talisman to appear in the series, and it belongs to Haruka Tenoh.
In the manga the blade of itself appears to be transparent. In the anime it is normally depicted as white, but when used as a weapon it seems to be drawn from a sheath and the blade turns red, glowing white as it strikes. The Space Sword has the apparent power to cut through almost anything. It enables Sailor Uranus to use her Space Sword Blaster and Space Turbulence attacks.
- The Garnet Orb is first to appear, but the last to be revealed as a talisman. It belongs to Setsuna Meioh.
The Garnet Orb has the apparent power to separate the heart crystal from the talisman, but it's very unlikely that it has a relationship with Pluto's time control powers, as she states that is the staff that allowed her to use that power. It enables Sailor Pluto to use her Chronos Typhoon attack as well as a defensive maneuver, Garnet Ball.
[edit] Holy Grail
[edit] Manga
In the manga, the eight Guardian and Outer Senshi must be present for the original Grail to appear. When Sailor Moon, Sailor Chibi Moon and Tuxedo Mask are together they can create the Grail of the future for Sailor Chibi Moon. They use the Grails to transform into Super Sailor Moon and Super Sailor Chibi Moon; it is also what keeps Neo-Queen Serenity young, and most likely is what impeded Chibiusa's growth for a little under 900 years.
[edit] Anime
When the three talismans are combined, they will form the Holy Grail (in the English version, "Purity Chalice"), which is used to power up Sailor Moon into Super Sailor Moon. However, at first this greatly weakened her, so the Outer Senshi did not believe she was the Messiah. Mistress 9 eventually obtained the Grail and used it to bring Pharaoh 90 to Earth. It was destroyed shortly thereafter.

[edit] Musical Characters
[edit] From Kaguya Shima Densetsu
[edit] Loof Merrow
Loof Merrow (ルーフメロウ Rufu Merou?) is an original character from the Sailor Moon musicals, in the first original musical, Kaguya Shima Densetsu. She is the princess of the ancient empire Artuka, as well a female pirate.
Loof Merrow was sealed in ice for 5,000 years until the comet Coatl returned again to the Earth. She went after the Sailor Senshi to get the Silver Crystal, for the sole reason of reviving her companions. At Kaguya Island, she met King Endymion, who had travelled to the past to keep an eye on Chibiusa, and fell in love with him. After that, she helped the Sailor Senshi get rid of Coatl by sacrificing herself so that the last Dark Crystal doesn't reach its stand and breaking the seal that prevented the Sailor Team from transforming. In the original musical, she was killed, but in the revision, she was revived.
Her associates, Kern, Kraken and Serpen are andriods created to protect her. Although Loof Merrow refered them to "my underlings", she cared deeply for them and mourned their lost when they died protecting her. In Shin Kaguya Shima Densetsu, Selkie was another survivor of the Artuka empire who helped protect Loof Merrow. Loof Merrow's reason for staying alive all along was to preserve the royal bloodline of the Artuka empire.
She has been potrayed by Hikari Ono, Maki Aizawa and Hiroko Mori.
[edit] From the Dracul Series
[edit] Count Dracul
Count Dracul (ドラクル伯爵 Torakuru Hakshaku?) is an original character from the Sailor Moon musicals, in an arc known as the Dracul Series. He is the father of Vampir and the husband of Le Fay.
Count Dracul is the ressurection of Abel. In this version, Abel was killed by his brother Cain out of jealousy after God chose the sword Abel made instead of Cain's sword. Count Dracul and his family lived in the Dracul Castle located at Transylvania Forest, until Le Fay was killed by her own father. Count Dracul then left their daughter Vampir for her well being in the castle and went to live in Tokyo for hundreds of years until Professor Tomoe pays him a visit.
Vampir's wish of not drinking human blood, due to her mother's dislike for it, made Count Dracul work with Professor Tomoe to create Homunculus, artificial life, for use of its blood. Professor Tomoe offered him 2 Death Nightmares as servants in exchange for his help, and Count Dracul turned one of them into a vampire. He named her Le Fay, and she became Vampir's mother on Count Dracul's request. During the battle between the Sailor Senshi and Undead Berserk, the true form of Professor Tomoe, Count Dracul protects Sailor Moon against Undead Berserk's attack with the Sammeal Sword. Count Dracul was sealed in the underworld and did not appear in the next musical, Transylvania no Mori, but was resurrected in the kaiteiban (revision) of it.
In Transylvania no Mori kaiteiban, Count Dracul is first seen with a mysterious woman in the underworld, who refers to him as Abel. It is later revealed that this woman was Astarte, but Dark Cain was in control of her. During the battle between Baron Gille de Rais, Sailor Senshi and Sailor Astarte, the Sammeal Sword was broken, and Count Dracul was released from the underworld.
He has only been potrayed by Yuuta Mochizuki.
[edit] Vampir
Bloody Dracul Vampir (ブラッディ‧ドラクル‧ヴァンピール Buraddi Dorakuru Vanbiru?) is an original character from the Sailor Moon musicals, in an arc known as the Dracul Series. She is half human and half vampire, a unique existance, as she is the daughter of Count Dracul, a vampire, and Le Fay, a human. On promotional posters of Vampir, she has red hair highlights and eyes. Hikari Ono specially highlighted her hair red during the course of the Dracul Series to constantly appear like Vampir.
Due to her unique status of being half vampire and half human, Vampir was kept in Dracul Castle for her well being. She was angry at her father, blaming him for allowing Le Fay to commit suicide. She had no memories of her mother.[1] Le Fay, now a vampire due to Count Dracul, tells the truth of how Vampir's real mother died. While initially rejecting Le Fay's attempts to replace her original mother, Vampir finally accepts Le Fay as her mother when she blocks a deadly attack by Astarte.
Although Vampir can be extremely angry towards people, she cares for children, such as the Sammael Quartet and Chibiusa, even though her goal was to obtain the Silver Crystal.[2] Her taste changes gradually, from wearing traditional Western vampire clothes to more modernized biker clothing, much to her father's horror.
While mentioned in the first musical of the Dracul Series, Last Dracul Jokyoku, Vampir doesn't appear until the next musical, Transylvania no Mori, seeking revenge for her father's death. She joins forces with Lilith of Darkness, to not only seek revenge but use the opportunity to revive Le Fay via the power of the Silver Crystal. Advised by Lilith to take out the strongest Sailor Senshi, Vampir turns Sailor Mars, Jupiter and Uranus into vampires. In the end, she joins the Sailor Senshi against Sailor Astarte, who is revealed to be Dark Cain. In the original musical, she orders Sailor Mars, Jupiter and Uranus to attack Sailor Mercury, Venus and Pluto, the result leaving them all dead. However, Sailor Moon revives them in the end to fight against Cain and Lilith of Darkness. In the revision musical of it, Vampir willingly breaks the vampire curse she held over Sailor Mars, Jupiter and Uranus.
In the final installment of the Dracul Series, Le Fay is turned back to a nightmare and Vampir feels conflicted due to her previous acceptance that Le Fay was her mother. She joins the side of the Sailor Senshi to stop the planet from being destroyed as Death Vulcan and Dark Cain seeks to end the world and their lives.
She has only been potrayed by Hikari Ono.
[edit] Le Fay
Le Fay (ル・フェイ Ru Fei?) is an original character from the Sailor Moon musicals, in an arc known as the Dracul Series. She is the wife of Count Dracul and mother of Vampir. She is also the only villain to appear in all four musicals of the Dracul Series.
Le Fay was killed by her own father for marrying Count Dracul, a vampire. Count Dracul did not turn her into a vampire on her request as Le Fay didn't want to cause suffering among the people she had to live off, as well as experiencing the agony of living forever. She was then resurrected as a Nightmare, and was a servant to Death Lamia, one of Professor Tomoe's partners. When Professor Tomoe offers her to be a servant to Count Dracul, she is turned into a vampire.
In Transylvania no Mori Kaiteiban, Le Fay explains to Vampir how her real mother died, and why didn't she want to turn into a vampire. She protects Vampir from an attack by Astarte and dies, but not before Vampir accepts her as her mother. In the next musical, Chou Wakusei Death Vulcan, she is ressurected as a Nightmare again, by the name of Olam Tiphera.
She has only been potrayed by Miki Kawasaki.
[edit] Mandrake
Mandrake (マンドレーク Mandoreku?) is an original character from the Sailor Moon musicals, in an arc known as the Dracul Series.
Mandrake first appears in Transylvania no Mori as a plant which the Sammeal Quartet became fascinated with as CereCere hasn't seen it before. PallaPalla tries to pluck it, but Baron Gille de Rais stop her as he identifies it as a Mandragora, a plant which has human form and grants wishes. This prompts the Quartet to pluck the plant, but Lilith of Darkness halts them again, informing that the person who plucks the Mandragora will die from the scream let out by the uprooted Mandragora. Lilith tries to use her magic to pull the Mandragora out, but the Mandragora uprooted himself, complaining it would hurt if a devil pulled him out.
A Mandragora supposed power is to be able to grant wishes of the person who uprooted him. Mandrake says he doesn't have that kind of power because he is a 100 years too young. However, Mandrake claims he can heal the wounds of the heart, and Baron Gille de Rais offers to take care of him.
He has only been potrayed by Yoshiya Yukimura. Yukimura commented that he really likes Mandrake in the Fan Kansha event for Transylvania no Mori kaiteiban.[3]
