Hans von Koester

Hans von Koester (April 29, 1844 – February 21, 1928) was a German naval officer, who served in the Prussian Navy and later in the Imperial German Navy of the German Empire. He retired as a Grand Admiral.
Koester was born in Schwerin, Mecklenburg-Schwerin. He joined the Prussian Navy in 1859, became an admiral and head of the Baltic Sea forces in 1896. He was ennobled in 1900 and promoted to Grand Admiral in 1905. He died in Kiel.
