Hans Christian Ostrø

Hans Christian Ostrø (1968-13 August 1995) a Norwegian tourist, was kidnapped together with six other Westerners in Liddarwat, near Pahalgam, Kashmir between 4 and 8 July 1995. The others were John Childs (USA), Dirk Hasert (Germany), Donald Hutchins (USA), Keith Mangan (UK) and Paul Wells (UK).
Hans Ostrø was beheaded on 13 August 1995 in Kashmir. The Islamic group Al Faran claimed responsibility for the killing. Ostrø was 27 years old. It has been stated by American media sources that the Forsvarets Spesialkommando, NORSOF were sent to the group's rescue.[citation needed]
