Hans-Peter Vietze

Hans-Peter Vietze (Mongolian: Ханс-Пэтэр Фийцэ) is a German Mongolist. He is the author of the Mongolian-German dictionary, and works as translator on a broad range of occasions.

Hans-Peter Vietze completed his studies in Mongolian, Turkic and Altaic Studies at Berlin's Humboldt University in 1960. In the following years, he travelled to Mongolia several times, completed his doctorate, and in 1976 he became Professor for Mongolian studies at the Humboldt University. He now works as a freelance translator and counselor. On Sundays, he can usually be found at Berlin's Tegel Airport, where he assists the immigration department handling incoming MIAT passengers.
