Hans-Peter Ferner

Hans-Peter Ferner (born June 6, 1956) is a former (West) German middle distance runner who won the gold medal over 800 m at the 1982 European Championships in Athletics in Athens where he unexpectedly defeated world-record holder Sebastian Coe. He finished eighth in the 800 m final at the 1983 World Championships in Athletics in Helsinki. At the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles he went out in the second round over 800 m.
