From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hanoi International Women's Club (HIWC) is a non-profit group for expatriate women. It is based in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. Established in 1986, initially HIWC was a group of diplomatic ladies.

At present (by 2008), the club involves about 350 women from 56 countries.

The organization declares its purpose in development of social, charitable and cultural activities among the expatriate society in Vietnam. It holds the Annual Charity Bazaar[1][2] and other events in Hanoi for gathering finances for Community Aid projects (helping disadvantaged women and children, small communities, hospitals, orphanages in Hanoi and Vietnam[3]), funds eye surgeries for needy children.

By some estimations, it is one of the biggest charitable women's organisations in Southeast Asia[1].
