[edit] High school

Baskett attended Clovis High School, where he earned all-state honors as a punter and receiver. He also lettered in basketball and track while graduating with a 4.0 GPA.

[edit] College career

Baskett was the University of New Mexico's leading receiver in 2004 and 2005, as he earned All-Mountain West Conference honors as a senior, posting 67 receptions for 1,071 yds. and nine touchdowns. A four-time all-academic MWC honoree, he graduated with a degree in General Management.

[edit] Professional career

He originally signed with the Minnesota Vikings as a rookie undrafted free agent in 2006 out of the University of New Mexico and was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for fellow receiver Billy McMullen.

[edit] Rookie Year

With the departure of Todd Pinkston in training camp, Baskett had an opportunity for increased playing time. He completed the season with 22 receptions for 464 yards (21.1 yards per catch) and two touchdowns.

He had key games against the Dallas Cowboys (112 receiving yards and one touchdown) and the Atlanta Falcons (177 receiving yards and one touchdown). For his performance in these games, Baskett was awarded rookie of the week honors. Although he went undrafted because of his perceived lack of speed, both of his touchdown receptions went for more than 80 yards.
