[edit] About
The band formed in 1995; in the winter of the same year the first songs in their own writing were created; meanwhile arose the opportunity to begin playing live in various festivals and pubs.
Between May and June 1997 Hand of Doom began to work in studio in order to realize their first demotape: The Nameless City; with this first work they managed to make themselves a name, also receiving good reviews from magazines and fanzines. The demotape is still distributed in Germany, Russia, Brasil, Italy and Portugal. The band promoted The Nameless City playing live in many northern Italian towns, until they took the chance to record Waiting in Live, a Live 5-tracks album. In the meantime Hand of Doom partecipated to the Whiplash Record’s compilation Into the Underground Vol. III.
In March 2000 the debut album Behind the Shadows was born. It revealed to be a further step into the musical evolution of the band, proposing a kind of Progressive & Melodic Death Metal full of melody, technical complexity, rhythm changes and rough&clean vocals. The album received good reviews, sometimes becoming top demo and allowing the band to perform a lot of live dates.
Gemini Records noticed Hand of Doom and they signed a contract for the making of the first full length album. Thus the band realized Dreams of Resurrection, showing a greater artistic maturity. New songs were made, more live gigs were performed, letting Hand of Doom release The Gates of Souls: they revitalized their sound, enriching it with musical and technical solution which revealed a constant artistic growth.
