[edit] Sports

  • The Hanahan Hawks play athletics in Region 6-AA.
  • The Athletic Director is head football coach Charlie Patterson.
  • The Hanahan Hawks football team had a region-winning streak of 46 games. That was the second longest streak in the state of South Carolina (1st was Stratford High School, 51 games). The streak ended with a loss at Andrews High School 26-28 in 2006.
  • Also the Hanahan Hawks football team has an accomplishment of 10-consecutive Region Championships dating back to 1996. A reason for such winning ways might have occurred because of the closing of Cainhoy High School in Huger, South Carolina. All students from the high school had to go to Hanahan. In those students, there was athletes' eager to continue their football careers. The athletes from Cainhoy and Hanahan High Schools have combined together for 10 years now to form a great football program.
  • The Hanahan High men's soccer team won an "AA" state championship in 1997 under assistant principal Rick Raycroft and powerhouse Randy Cuttrell.
  • The Hanahan Varsity Softball team was the 2006 Region and District Champions making a trip to the Lower State Final Game.
