Han Hsiang-ning (Simplified Chinese: 韩湘宁; Traditional Chinese: 韓湘寧; Pinyin: hán xiáng níng; born 1939) is a Chinese American artist.

Han Hsiang-ning was born in 1939 in Zhongqing, China, Han's family originally came from Xiangtan, Hunan.
In 1961, after he graduated from the National Taiwan Normal University, he joined the "Fifth Moon Group" and became one of the important painter of Taiwan's modern art movement.
In 1967, Han emigrated to New York City, and joined the O.K. Harris Works of Art since 1971 until 1984.
Han has participated in many important museum exhibitions, such as: Museu de Arte Moderna, São Paulo, Musee d'Arte Moderne, Paris, Museum of Recklinghausen, Germany, Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, The Brooklyn Museum, NY, The Art Institute of Chicago, Whitney Museum of American Art, and Hirshhorn Museum, D.C.
Han has served as visiting artist for The School of Chicago Institute of Art, and artist-instructor for N.Y.U. graduate art program.

- 1939 Born on May 13 at Zhongqing. Place of origin: Xiantan, Hunan.
- 1942 Moved to Baogi, Shangshi with parents.
- 1946 Returned to place of origin Xiantan.
- 1948 Moved to Quinmin, Yuennan with mother.
- 1951 Went to Taiwan via Hong Kong, Macao and joined father.
- 1953 First started oil painting while attending Junior High of National Normal University.
- 1960 Graduated from National Normal University, Department of Fine Arts. Graduation Exhibition featured surrealistic oil paintings.
- Visited by Kuosung Liu and Yulun Kao and was invited to join the 5TH MOON GROUP.
- Began abstract form oil painting, such as "Worship", "Affair".
- Works first appeared on magazine (Pen Review).
- 1961 First applied for international art exhibition,and was selected with the highest votes to represent Taiwan for exhibition at VI Bienal de São Paulo, Brazil. Also admitted to 2nd Biennale de Paris.
- First joined Fifth Moon Group Annual Exhibition.
- 1962 Visited by New York gallery owner Poindexter. Mrs. Poindexter became the first important New York art dealer collecting Han's works.
- 1963 Began working with roller and stencils on rice paper, still abstract, emphasizing form and space structure.
- First exhibition in Australia and the United States.
- 1964 Father died. Met Tsaishuan Chung.
- First trip abroad. Attended 4th International Biennial Exhibition of Prints at Tokyo, Japan with Shichi Lee representing Taiwan.
- Works first exhibited in African countries.
- 1965 First solo exhibition at National Taiwan Arts Center, Taipei, Taiwan.
- Invited by Existence Club of National Taiwan University to give lecture. The title: "Not thing / Not east west".
- 1966 Tehjin Shi introduced Pop art to Taiwan, had some influence on Han.
- "Paintings by the contemporary artist Han" published by National Taiwan Arts Center.
- 1967 Immigrated to New York City. Visited Walasse Ting's studio. Visited Mi Chou Gallery Mr. & Mrs. Owyang. Met Ivan Karp, David Diao at Leo Castelli Gallery. First met Hsiao Chin, Wen-ying Tsai.
- 1968 Tsaishuan Chung came to the United States, married Han.
- Moved to a loft in New York downtown Broome street (now Soho). Met Yang Hsia again who moved from Paris to New York.
- 1969 Began spray painting works, using acrylic paint on canvas, created "Invisible Image" series works.
- Visited by Paula Cooper and "Invisible Image" series works being collected.
- 1970 Visited by Ivan Karp who arranged Han's one-man exhibition at French & Company, New York.
- Visited by Whitney Museum curator Marcia Tucker (now the director of New Museum) who arranged for Han to join "Invisible Image Exhibition" at School of Visual Arts, New York.
- In the process of spray gun painting, found different combination of sprayed color dots. Based on Seurat's works, a series of "After Seurat" works were painted.
- 1971 Continued spray gun technique, but began using New York city-scene as subject, camera as sketching tool, completed a series of "Subtle New York Cityscape" works, such as "Brooklyn Bridge". Held one man exhibition at O.K. Harris Gallery, New York.
- 1972 Launched subjects on industrial scenses with vivid images.
- Made first trip to Europe and held one-man exhibition in Germany at Galerie Thelan, Cologne. Visited Zao Wou-Ki, met Peng Wan-Ts again in Paris.
- 1973 Completed "Views of Washington D.C." series. Held one-man exhibition at Gallery Henry, Washington D.C.
- 1974 Completed a series of "Soho District" works such as "Soho west Broadway" by using telephoto lenses taking pictures of New York Soho Building facades. Held one-man exhibition at O.K.Harris Gallery, New York.
- 1975 Painted bird's-eye view streetscenes of New York City.
- 1976 Started instructing "Apprenticeship program" at the Graduate School of New York University.
- 1977 Completed "Lunch Time" featuring people as subject for the first time, using acrylic spray on canvas.
- Divorced with Tsaishuan Chung. Took a trip to London and Paris for pictures of cityscene.
- 1978 Visited Spain, Portugal, France and England.
- 1979 "Visiting Artist" to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Held one-man exhibition at Dobrick Gallery.
- First around the world trip, returned to Taiwan for the first time in 12 years. Met Alice Yu at Taipei Printmaker's Art Gallery, then, Alice Yu visited New York.1980 Married Alice Yu. Went to Taipei again, held exhibition at Printmakers Art Gallery, including two works of Taipei street scenes.
- "Paintings by H.N. Han" was published by Artist Magazine in Taipei.
- First daughter Eve was born.
- 1981 Completed first self portrait. Works featuring New York people such as "Music of Washington Square".
- Second daughter Jacqueline was born.
- 1982 Held one-man exhibition at O.K.Harris Gallery, subject: New York people.
- 1983 Set up a studio in country house at Greenwood Lake, N.Y. Began using brush to paint water color and ink on paper.
- 1984 Travelled to Paris, met Chen Ying-Teh, Cheng Kin-Chung, Chu Teh-Chun, Zao Wou-Ki and Peng Wan-Ts.
- 1985 Working in Soho studio and Greenwood Lake studio using two different technics, subjects are street crowd and bird's eye view of intersections of New York streets.
- 1986 Continue to paint subjects of New York street crowd using acrylic spray on giant canvas such as "Radio Playing People". Invited by Lee Shichi, director of Asia World Gallery in Taipei, for a one-man exhibition of recent works on people.
- Returned to China, visited Central Academy of Fine Arts and Xi An. Re-visited Chungchin.
- 1987 Started a series of work on the subject of China such as "Chungchin People", Bejing Crowds" and "Foreigners in Beijing.
- Held the first group exhibition in Shanghai, China; "Artists from Shanghai and Taiwan.
- Visited Shanghai, Souzhou, Woxi, Honzhou and Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts.
- 1988 Teaching at St. Thomas Aquinas College as visiting professor.
- 1989 First visited Mount Huang, mostly the area of Beihai and Xihai, taking scenes in photos and vidio.
- Went to Shanghai on May 4th and the Students Democratic Movements continued.
- Back to New York and painted the subject of "Tiananmem Square" series paintings.
- Began series paintings for "Mount Huang", employing similar technique to those ink on papers on New York street crowds.
- 1990 Exhibit "Tiananmen Square" and "Mount Huang" series in New York and Taipei.
- Re-visited Mount Huang and continued painting on the subject of Mount Huang.
