Han Ahmedow

Han Ahmedowiç Ahmedow (in Russian : Хан Ахмедов, Khan Akhmedov, 1936?–December 6, 2006) was Prime Minister of Turkmenistan from December 1989 to May 1992. During his time in office, Turkmenistan became an independent country when the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991. Afterwards, Ahmedow became Railways Minister and then ambassador to Turkey. In 2002 he was placed under internal exile, where he remained until he died of a heart attack in Serdar, in western Turkmenistan, in late 2006. According to relatives of Ahmedow, the government did not allow him to receive medical treatment in Ashgabat.[1]
