[edit] Khalil Kalfat

Hi, do you have any further sources about Khalil Kalfat? Under Wikipedia policy, the article may be subject to deletion if we cannot find multiple independent instances of press coverage. It's difficult to ever expand the article if there is only one source about him which gives only a peripheral mention. Do you have any citations of him from offline sources, e.g. in print newspapers? Please respond at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Khalil Kalfat. Thanks. cab 13:18, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

Moved from Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Khalil Kalfat:
* I regard deleting the page I created for Khalil Kalfat as an arrogant action by somebody who think that if someone is not recognized in English he or she shouldn't be recognized at all. I provided two sources for their respective sections (one was a review in the notable Al Ahram Weekly on his translation of selected essays on Jorge Luis Borges that appraised Khalil's translation) and another for his co-authored dictionary of Arabic Conjugation, with a testimonial by a Western scholar. The plausible procedure with any lack of sources for the section on his literary translation should've been marking it for not citing its sources. Yet, all what was mentioned in this section are supported by evidences from notable Arabic publications, for example here and here and here and here and here. Actually the lack of material on someone or something online is enough reason to compensate it through Wikipedia. Ironically enough, the user whose "Arabic is crap" did not notice that "كلفت" (Kalfat in Arabic) is the same spelling for a verb conjugation (for cost or commissioned in Englih), the occurence of which with the name Kalil in a sports page is nothing to make anyone "pretty sure it's just another guy by the same name". I want my page back, please. Let's criticize not ruin others' efforts.
You didn't give those latter five links in the article, and they didn't show up in a Google search, so I don't know how you expect that we would have been able to find them. Also, the fact that someone authored a book is generally not considered evidence of notability; the main criterion is multiple instances of press coverage, and only one was provided. To get the article undeleted, please bring it up at Wikipedia:Deletion review; you will then be expected to improve the article further. If you are unclear how do to this, leave me a message on my talk page.
Finally, I'm very offended by your unfounded accusations of bias and arrogance. Wikipedia has plenty of articles on things which won't be found by an English language google search, and whose only sources are foreign language articles and books; the difference is that the articles on those things actually link to those references or otherwise tell people clearly what those references are. We do our best to find references for new articles when we cannot tell whether they meet guidelines for inclusion in Wikipedia, but when we can't, and the original author of an article doesn't respond to such requests asking him to help us, there's not really much we can do. cab 04:12, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
I have put the deletion review procedure into motion, see Wikipedia:Deletion review#Khalil Kalfat. cab 07:05, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

I moved the article to User:Hamuksha/Khalil Kalfat because you are the original creator of the article.
