Hi, I appreciate what you are saying. However, I think Jamie should be classed as Scottish until such time as he represents Ireland. He would then, in a football context, become Irish in the same way Colin Miller became Canadian.

Hi, I noticed you keep on reverting my edit on Hamilton Academical F.C., changing Jamie McCarthys flag from Ireland to Scotland. He has chosen to play for the Irish national team at under-17 level and will play against Italy on January 19. Sources include his wikipedia page and this.
