For the library’s centennial a former librarian was commissioned to write a history of the Hamilton Public Library. The book was called “Hamilton Public Library 1889-1963: a celebration of vision and leadership” and was written by J. Katharine Greenfield and published by the Hamilton Public Library in 1989. There are multiple copies of this book available for consultation within the library system, including a copy at the Dundas Public Library. The call number for this book is: 027.4713 GRE

Within Special Collections there is a card index called the “Where-to-look” leading to more citations to the Hamilton Public Library in other formats such as microfilms, clipping files and photographs.

Depending on the depth of the research that you will be doing there are also archival resources such as minute books and annual reports that can be consulted within Special Collections. There is a finding aid for this material available in the department.
